Abstract

The history of the Maghreb has received the attention of researchers, especially the relations between Morocco and Algeria, given the importance of the two countries, their geographical location, and their role in the Maghreb region. However, there are many topics that have not been well highlighted, including the subject of the research. From this standpoint, the title of the research was (The Algerian-Moroccan border disputes during the nineties of the twentieth century). The research was divided into an introduction, three sections, and a conclusion. The first section came under the title of the dispute over the land borders, and the second section came under the title of the Moroccan Sahara problem, while the section dealt with the third is the issue of activating the Moroccan Union. Through the presentation of the research, it becomes clear that Moroccan-Algerian relations were tense and unstable, and that the differences between the two countries were caused by several factors, including internal ones related to the political, economic and security developments between the two countries. They cast a shadow on the relations and had a direct impact, and this was evident in the security challenges to The two countries faced a result of terrorist organizations. Also, the international and regional conditions were influential in the relations between the two countries, especially the Cold War period. These conditions allowed external intervention by presenting some international initiatives. This was clear in the Moroccan-Algerian UN settlement initiative and the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership Project known as the Barcelona 1996 process. However, the Arab role was Weak in trying to resolve the crisis between the two countries
